Learn it
Weather is what the air outside is like at a certain time and place. It can be sunny, cloudy, rainy, snowy, windy, hot or cold, and it can change from day to day or even hour to hour.
Scientists who study and predict weather are called meteorologists. They measure temperature (how hot or cold), wind, clouds and precipitation (rain, snow, sleet or hail).
π Amazing facts
- The word ‘meteorologist’ has nothing to do with meteors; it comes from an old Greek word for things high in the sky.
- Weather happens in the lowest layer of the air around Earth.
π§ͺ Try it: Weather chart
- Make a chart with 7 boxes, one for each day.
- Each morning, look outside and draw the weather.
- Add words: sunny, cloudy, rainy, windy or snowy.
- At the end of the week, count each kind of day.
